“Eliminating the Department of Education isn't about efficiency—it's economic sabotage targeting hardworking families, including Latinos and others seeking opportunities to build a better life.” said Melissa Morales, Founder and President of Somos Votantes. “Federal education programs are ladders to economic prosperity for working people, not a budget line item to be erased by Elon Musk. Trump's plan would devastate the very pathways that have allowed millions of Latinos to enter the middle class. We cannot build a stronger economy by destroying programs that help students get ahead.”
