Somos PAC and Priorities USA Action Launch Digital Ads Targeting Latino Voters in Pennsylvania Following Derogatory Comments from Trump’s Madison Square Garden Rally

In response to the derogatory comments made during Sunday’s Trump campaign event in New York, Somos PAC and Priorities USA Action launched digital ads targeting Puerto Rican voters in Pennsylvania

Washington, D.C. (November 2, 2024) – In response to the derogatory comments made during Sunday’s Trump campaign event in New York, Somos PAC and Priorities USA Action launched digital ads targeting Puerto Rican voters in Pennsylvania in support of Vice President Kamala Harris. The bilingual ads titled “Doesn’t Care” available in English and Spanish, highlight Sunday’s racist remarks and Donald Trump’s past efforts to block aid for the island after deviating hurricanes. In contrast, the ads also highlight the power Puerto Rican voters have at the ballot box, and Vice President Harris’s commitment to fighting for Puerto Ricans and working people everywhere.

“Donald Trump has proven once again that he just doesn't care about people like us,” said Melissa Morales, President and Founder of Somos PAC. "While Trump’s closing argument to hard-working Latinos is unsurprisingly divisive and full of insults, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a closing argument focused on how she’ll be a fighter for working people, including Latinos, and laid out her Opportunity Economy agenda for Puerto Rico. Latinos are ready to turn the page on Trump and elect leaders like Vice President Harris, and we will do everything we can in these final days to engage Latino voters in key battleground states, including in Pennsylvania, to ensure we turn out to vote for a better future."

“While Trump's closing argument zeros in on insults aimed at Puerto Ricans and the larger Latino community, Vice President Harris has pledged to seek common ground, common sense solutions and being a champion for working families -- including Puerto Ricans -- across the country," said Danielle Butterfield, Executive Director, Priorities USA. "This country is ready to close the chapter on Trump and his years of hate, and we will do everything possible to persuade and mobilize Latino voters in key battleground states like Pennsylvania in the final five days of this election."

In August, Somos PAC and Priorities USA announced a joint $5 million bilingual digital ad program, named The Margins Project, in support of Vice President Kamala Harris targeting Latino voters on the digital margins in key battleground states. The multi-million-dollar digital ad program was designed to bridge the growing digital gap in Latino voter outreach that traditional paid media efforts often overlook. Last week, the groups announced an added $1.1M digital ad buy highlighting Harris plans to make housing more affordable and her balanced approach to immigration that focuses on keeping families together and expanding pathways to citizenship for long-settled immigrants.

While traditional programs focus on reaching Latino voters online by targeting zip codes with a high population of Latinos, this program is specifically designed to reach the growing majority of Latino voters who live in less-densely Latino-populated ZIP codes. As demonstrated by Equis Research findings, YouTube is the most critical platform for reaching Latino audiences, where Latino audiences spend 2x the time compared to non-Latino adults.
