Somos PAC Will Invest Over $2 Million in the Georgia Runoff

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Somos PAC, a Latina-led organization focused on persuading and mobilizing Latino voters in key battleground states, including Nevada and Arizona, released the following statements as votes continue to be counted in these two close Senate races and pledged to invest over $2 million in the Georgia Senate runoff election:

“Hardworking Latinos have been delivering for Democrats because Democrats continue to deliver for Latinos,” said Melissa Morales, Founder and President of Somos PAC. “We knew the Nevada and Arizona Senate races would be close. The fact that they remain this close speaks volumes for the power of our programs, the importance of engaging Latino voters early and consistently, and the incredible efforts of Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto and Sen. Mark Kelly’s campaigns. While we wait for every vote to be counted in Nevada and Arizona, we are ramping up our efforts to ensure the people of Georgia send Sen. Raphael Warnock back to Washington D.C.”

“Hardworking Latinos keep our economy going and are an ever growing political force in Nevada,” said Cecia Alvarado, Nevada Executive Director of Somos PAC. “We are very proud of the incredible work we have been able to do and the solid foundation we have built in Nevada to help re-elect the first and only Latina in the U.S. Senate, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto. We look forward to investing even more in our Latino community, empowering the next generation of Latinos and will do everything we can to make sure our families have the tools and opportunities they need to fully participate in our democracy.”

Somos PAC, which ran programs that focused on educating Latino voters about the midterm elections, informing them about where candidates stand on the issues that matter and ensuring that they vote, spent $8.9 million on voter outreach programs in Nevada and $2.2 million in Arizona. The programs included robust investments in door-to-door canvassing, community organizing, a bilingual mail program that reached hundreds of thousands of households and paid Spanish and English-language TV, radio and digital outreach.

Additionally, its sister organization, Somos Votantes, spent  $1 million in Arizona to advocate for candidates that fight for working people.

Somos PAC also plans to invest over $2 million in the Georgia Senate run-off election pledging to contact tens of thousands of hardworking Latino voters through a door-to-door canvassing program, paid bilingual mail program in addition to paid Spanish and English-language radio and digital outreach.
